Classic boards like Spaceland and Peach’s Birthday Cake are some of what you can expect with the new title. Woody Woods, Yoshi’s Tropical Island and Horror Land–where you will have to watch out for ghosts if you play the board at night–are some of the other boards available.

The Mario Party franchise started way back on the Nintendo 64 in 1998. It featured a charming board game set up that was designed as a multiplayer party game to engage in with friends and family. The original game featured a roster of playable characters, such as Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Donkey Kong, Yoshi and Wario. The gameplay largely consisted of competitive minigames with opportunities in the board progression section of the game to squash your opponents’ progress.

Since those simpler times, there’s been a large number of installments to the franchise, with Super Mario Party in 2018 being one previous example for the Switch. This isn’t technically the first compilation entry into the series, either, with Mario Party: The Top 100 hitting the Nintendo 3DS back in 2017. That game involved a compilation of 100 remade minigames originally featured in the previous ten home console games in the series.

All boards and minigames support online play with Mario Party Superstars launching on October 29. The game is available for pre-order now.
