Following the deluge of leaks and rumors over the last week outing Overwatch‘s Halloween event ahead of an official announcement from Blizzard, the competitive shooter’s spooktastic extravaganza is now live.
Running from today until November 1, all Loot Boxes earned in-game will be replaced with suitably-themed jack-o’-lanterns that contain at least one of 100 new items, including Hero skins, profile emblems, sprays, victory poses, emotes, highlight intros and other ghoulish surprises.
As usual, you’ll be rewarded with a Loot Box each time you level up, but if you can’t stomach the grind, varying quantities of them can be purchased via the PlayStation or Xbox Stores for a small sum. Those on PC can buy them directly from Blizzard’s Battle.net website.
Along with the above, a new co-op Brawl – Junkenstein’s Revenge – is accessible. In a neat twist on standard modes, the limited-time event asks you and three other players to team up in order to defend the world against an onslaught of “hambling zomnics” created by Junkenstein himself. Other ghastly creations, including Junkenstein’s Monster and the Reaper will be present too, so be sure to keep your wits about you.
Besides the previous Summer Games promotion held earlier this year, Halloween is the first major limited-time event to grace Overwatch. If this is a sign of things to come, we can’t wait until Christmas rolls around.
