Atlus USA has officially confirmed that their upcoming fighter Persona 4 Arena Ultimax will launch on September 30th in North America. The title, which will be available on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, will launch in Japan on August 28.
The sequel to 2012’s Persona 4 Arena, Ultimax picks up following the events of that game, with the Midnight Channel once again coming online. Several new characters will join the action this time, including fan favorites such as Rise from Persona 4, and Junpei and Yukari from Persona 3. All returning fighters will also have updated moves, as well as “shadow” variants that drastically alter each combatants fighting style.
Those that pre-order Persona 4 Arena Ultimax will also receive an assortment of goodies, including a set of Tarot Cards and a bop bag of Teddie, the anthropomorphic bear from Persona 4. A pair of DLC characters, Adachi and Marie, will also be available for free during the title’s first week of availability.
With just under two months to go to release, I’m starting to get excited about once again stepping into the world of Persona. The last entry in the series was a sold enough fighter, but I’m pleased to hear that Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is more than just a simple upgrade.
