In a post on the Official PlayStation Blog, Ubisoft Sofia producer Momchil Valentinov Gindyanov revealed that Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation HD will be released to the PlayStation Store on January 14th.
Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation was originally released in October 2012 for the PlayStation Vita andĀ focused on Aveline, the first female protagonist in series history, as she tries to stop the take over of New Orleans by the Templars. Since the game is technically a spin off of Assassin’s Creed III, this iteration of the franchise focuses on the same time period, namely the late 1700s and parts of the American Revolution.
In addition to the requisite updated graphics that come with every HD re-release, Ubisoft Sofia has also re-worked each original mission in order to help them play better on the PlayStation 3. 15 new missions have also been added to the campaign in order to further explore “Aveline’s Personas.” These personas focus on different aspects of who Aveline is and how the citizens of the city react to her.
For Assassin’s Creed fans who don’t have a PlayStation Vita, I imagine that news of Liberation hitting home consoles is exciting. In our original review of the title, we enjoyed it enough, but felt that it suffered from a lack of polish and a solid storyline. While the story won’t be switched up that much, hopefully the technical issues are all patched.
Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation HD will hit the PlayStation Network on January 14th. The title is also scheduled for release on the Xbox 360 and PC at an undisclosed date in 2014.
