Ringing in the new year with free games, Sony has elected (once again) to focus on a handful of indie titles for its monthly PlayStation Plus lineup; a strategy which starkly contrasts with Microsoft’s monthly offering of free games, which often includes AAA releases and fan-requested games from the ever-expanding back catalog of Xbox 360 backwards compatible titles.
As is the norm, Sony is offering up six games throughout January; two of them for the PlayStation 4, two for the PlayStation 3, and two for the PlayStation Vita, though with cross-buy, you’ll be able to enjoy some of these titles across multiple platforms.
Starting on January 3rd, PlayStation 4 owners will be able to download Day of the Tentacle Remastered, described as “a mind-bending, time traveling, puzzle adventure in which three unlikely friends work together to prevent an evil mutated purple tentacle from taking over the world. Originally released in 1993, this remastered game is a classic and not be missed.”

As detailed on the PlayStation Blog, the game is set in a fictional civil war in Eastern Europe and you “play as a group of civilians trying to survive in a city under siege while struggling to collect food and medicine. Make life-and-death choices driven by your conscience, while dealing with the constant dangers of war.”
