After over a month of down time, the Playstation Store is officially live again as of this morning. Sony said the following via the Playstation Blog:
“I’m happy to confirm that PlayStation Store is open and you can now download content and redeem voucher codes. We will update you with the full lists of new content available to PlayStation Network members and PlayStation Plus subscribers here on the PlayStation.Blog in the next few hours.”
The list is going to be substantial as it has to make up for the extensive down time, and will also include the promised ‘welcome back packages’. The store is currently lagging quite a lot due to the vast number of people trying to gain access at the same time but this will naturally settle down soon (hopefully).
With all the freebies soon to be available to millions of PS3 owners worldwide, and the fact the Store is back up in its entirety once again, perhaps Sony can begin the process of winning the favour of gamers once again. The stuff we will all be getting courtesy of Sony as a ‘thank you for your patience/sorry about this mess’ is actually rather generous, check it out when you sign back in.
Hopefully this means we are nearly at the end of this major hiccup, should we celebrate?
