Popular Twitch streamer Pokimane has come forward to expose the behavior of a high-up individual within the industry during her latest stream.
Pokimane has once again found herself dealing with unwanted behavior from creepy individuals so soon after the Atrioc deepfake controversy. She started her March 1 stream by addressing the situation, of which most of her community were unaware of. Although she does not disclose who the individual is, she revealed that several girls in her community had contacted her and her manager with concerns regarding the individual. Fans have praised her for calling out the behavior which is becoming more of a problem on Twitch.
According to the girls, the individual, who Pokimane and many other streamers had had a working relationship with for years, had targeted members of her community specifically and manipulated them by falsifying a details of a relationship between him and Pokimane as well as leaking privileged information regarding Pokimane’s finances that he had obtained from his job.
He would then proceed to claim that he was suicidal due to his relationship to further manipulate those he was talking to before providing doctored screen shots of conversations with the streamer. Even worse, he would send inappropriate photos of women and claim that the pictures were of her to prove that they were in a sexual relationship. Those targeted by this individual have provided screenshots and evidence of the behavior to Pokimane and her manager.
“He claimed that his relationship with me made him suicidal and he used this to make the girls feel like they couldn’t turn their backs on him and to think that like I was an evil person,” Pokimane recalled. “He told elaborate stories of our alleged sexual encounters in detail to girls that are like in my community, things that obviously never occurred.”
Pokimane revealed that she had not been shown all of the screenshots due to the nature of some of them, stating that it would be bad for her mental health. Although her manager has been shown all of the evidence sent. “The girls were kind enough to be like, you shouldn’t see this, let us send it to your manager.” Allegedly, the individual has been engaging in this activity the whole two years that Pokimane has known and worked with him.
After gaining their trust, he would try to develop a relationship with the girls he was talking to, offering to fly them out to him. He would also ask for photos and personal information from them.
Pokimane has not given specifics on who the individual is as she does not want to bring unnecessary attention to the girls who came forward or to give any attention to the individual. However, she did reveal that the company the individual was hired at did investigate the matter and he has since been let go as a response. The streamer ultimately expressed frustration at the fact that there was not more that could be done.
