Grass type-based Pokemon Sceptile is the latest ‘Mon to join Pokken Tournament‘s roster, bringing the current character total up to an even twelve. The announcement was made with a complimentary trailer (above) that showcases the overgrown lizard’s moveset and playstyle.
Despite being a Pokemon game, type weaknesses from the main series RPG titles are currently believed to not be relevant due to the very nature of the beat ’em up, so don’t worry about coming up against Charizard players as the newly-announced grass type once the game hits next year.
But that’s not all the trailer reveals. Both Farfetch’d and Electrode are confirmed to appear in Pokken as support characters (not directly playable) to help give players an edge over their opponents.
There’s currently no concrete release date slated for Pokken Tournament in the West, but the game’s developers are aiming for a release in the second quarter of 2016 for North America.
Currently confirmed playable characters are:
- Gengar
- Gardevoir
- Blaziken
- Shadow Mewtwo
- Lucario
- Pikachu
- Pikachu Libre
- Sceptile
- Charizard
- Weavile
- Machamp
- Suicune
That’s a pretty eclectic roster, but there’s still plenty of time for more to be added before Pokken Tournament releases. Are there any of the 700+ Pokemon that you’re hoping to see introduced? Let us know in the comments below!
