Ready to raise some hell? Bethesda and id Software have officially launched the DOOM open beta, with budding demon slayers able to download the beta client from today, April 15, across PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
Weighing in at 5.4GB and 8.7GB on PS4 and Xbox One respectively – PC owners will need 22GB of free space at minimum – the early bout of testing represents the last opportunity for players to test the blood-red waters in id’s franchise revival ahead of its release in around a month’s time.
Those who wish to partake will find a relatively healthy batch of pre-release content, including:
- Maps: Heatwave and Infernal
- Game Modes: 6v6 Team Deathmatch and Warpath
- Demon: Revenant
- Weapons: Rocket Launcher, Plasma Rifle, Super Shotgun, Vortex Rifle, Static Rifle, Heavy Assault Rifle, and Lightning Gun
- Power Weapons: Gauss Cannon
- Equipment: Frag Grenade, Personal Teleporter, Siphon Grenade
Just yesterday, a DOOM feature cast light on the shooter’s progression system, not to mention character customization. Yes, there will be plenty of ways to fine-tune your own particular version of Doomguy – id Software’s enduring space marine – and we’re excited to see how those aforementioned game modes play out once players hop into the action this weekend.
Set to go live today, April 15, across all compatible platforms, the DOOM open beta represents a way for players to sink their teeth into an early portion of id Software’s riotous shooter before its long-anticipated arrival on Friday, May 13.
