Following up on the release of April’s JRPG-inspired PlayStation exclusive, Child of Light, Ubisoft is prepping its next Ubiart-powered project, Valiant Hearts: The Great War.
The download-only title is currently in the works at Ubisoft Montpellier, the studio that transformed Rayman into a household name in the late 90s, and is pegged for release on June 25th, 2014. Infused with a comic book aesthetic, the game will chart the story of a family, torn apart by the horrors of war, looking to reunite with their wayward pet dog.
In the build-up to release, the studio has expressed its dedication to remaining loyal to the essence and indeed ramifications of the Great War, and the narrative itself is said to be inspired by themes of loss, sacrifice and, ultimately, hope found within real life letters.
Undoubtedly, Valiant Hearts: The Great War served as the perfect tonic for Ubisoft fans between the supercharged trailers for triple-A titles, some of which include post-apocalyptic shooter The Division and the studio’s expansive MMO racer, The Crew. Valiant Hearts: The Great War will look to tug those heart strings and jerk those tears when it launches across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC on June 25th, 2014.
