It’s no question that RAGE is one of the most anticipated games of the year, hailing from FPS veterans id Software. Today, the PC requirements for the game have been revealed, and even gamers with older rigs can rejoice.
It’s already been proven how graphically intense the game will be when it ships next month. We’ve played it, and we loved it. The surprisingly tame specs are as follows:
Minimum
- OS: Win XP SP3, Vista, Win 7
- Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo or Equivalent AMD
- Memory: 2GB
- Hard Disk Space: 25GB
- Video Card: GeForce 8800, Radeon HD 4200
Recommended:
- OS: Win XP SP3, Vista, Win 7
- Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad or Equivalent AMD
- Memory: 4GB
- Hard Disk Space: 25GB
- Video Card: GeForce 9800 GTX, ATI Radeon HD 5550
For a game that’s shipping on three discs on the Xbox 360 version, these specs are pretty low. Even the jump from the minimum to the recommended specs aren’t too high. Although, 25 GB for space is pretty damn high.
Personally, I played RAGE at E3. It was intense, and the PC version was clearly superior, as expected from the people who created the original DOOM. I put together a near-top-of-the-line gaming PC just for this game.
Although I’m glad to see that my computer could run it with absolutely no problem, I have a four-year-old laptop that can run it. Not complaining though, just surprised.
What say you, gamers? Would you expect anything less from the mind of John Carmack, the only game designer that’s literally a rocket scientist?
