Due to take place today across all platforms, Ubisoft has formally confirmed that the open beta test for Rainbow Six Siege has been delayed.
Announced via the publisher’s official blog, Ubi’s Community Manager noted that the tactical shooter will remain in closed beta due to unforeseen matchmaking issues and problems with the online connection. The official word is that the publisher is postponing the open beta, though given that the full retail release has been pegged for next week, Ubisoft is running out of time to host the event in question.
Per Ubisoft:
We’re currently seeing issues with matchmaking times and disconnection on all platforms. As such we’re postponing the Open Beta until a later time and keeping the game under Closed Beta status. We apologize for the delay and can assure you this is our top priority. We will keep everyone updated regularly as we continue to deploy improvements.
Initially slated to run from today, November 25, up until November 29, the Rainbow Six Siege open beta was packed to the brim with content, allowing early adopters to experiment with 14 operators, three maps, and three game modes. Whether Ubisoft will realign the window for the public testing remains to be seen, and we’ll keep you posted as this story develops.
Rainbow Six Siege is due to launch across PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on December 1, though today’s news doesn’t exactly inspire confidence for a stable online launch.
