Owners of Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault will soon be getting some new enhancements and fixes for the game, as Sony and developer Insomniac Games have announced that a patch for the game will be available to download later this week. The update will address balance issues for both the main campaign and the multiplayer modes, and will also add the ability to upgrade all weapons by an additional two levels.
As far as new content goes, the game’s first multiplayer add-on level was also revealed, and it should be familiar to longtime fans of the series. As pictured above, Metropolis, a setting that dates back to the very first entry in the Ratchet & Clank series as well as previous PS3 games (and also appeared as a level recently in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale), will be made available for free as part of another patch in early January. A preview screenshot can be viewed above, complete with the city’s sculpture of Captain Qwark.
This announcement fits with Insomniac’s earlier statements that paid DLC will be limited to character skins and other cosmetic options, with more substantial content such as levels not costing anything. This is a nice deal for once, as far too many games limit the number of people who can play new levels by restricting them to paid DLC.
Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault was released last month both digitally and at retail at the budget price of $19.99, and offers a mix of traditional run-and-gun gameplay as well as a tower defense element, with both a campaign mode and a fully-featured online component.
