Yesterday saw the first piece of mission-based downloadable content released for Slant Six Games‘ Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City. Available for free, the lone US Spec Ops mission happens to be the first of seven, with the others expected to become available in the relatively near future. They will combine to act as a secondary campaign, using a team of characters that were previously only playable in the game’s multiplayer mode.
In addition to the new campaign content, Capcom will be releasing four new multiplayer maps for its team-based third-person shooter. Their specifics are not available at this time.
All of the above-mentioned content will be available on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace and PlayStation Network. However, only the first Spec Ops mission will be given away for free.
Over the upcoming weeks, seven brand new Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City missions for the US Spec Ops squad and four new versus mode maps and will be available for players to download. The first DLC mission launches on April 10th for PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE and is completely free of charge. Players will take on the role of Harley, Dee-Ay, Tweed, Willow, Shona or Party Girl and set out to recover evidence that reveals the truth behind the deadly virus outbreak. An additional six missions along with the four versus mode maps will be available to purchase in the weeks to come.
