Though news of the title’s existence already leaked, Capcom has now officially announced that Resident Evil: Revelations 2 is in development. The news was revealed during Sony Computer Entertainment’s pre-Tokyo Game Show press conference earlier today.
A sequel to the 2012 original, little is currently known about Resident Evil: Revelations 2. What we do know, however, is that title will focus on a brand new batch of characters, which unfortunately means that fan favorites Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine will not be returning. We also know that it will launch on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC in early 2015.
While Capcom doesn’t have any footage to debut yet, they did release a short concept video for the title, which can be viewed below. In the brief clip, we see a small child navigate a room full of humans, which then transforms into a room filled with zombies. What any of this actually means, besides the fact that zombies will indeed be in the title, is beyond me.
What’s curious about this announcement, however, is the fact that the game will apparently not be coming to the Nintendo 3DS. Considering the fact that the first Resident Evil: Revelations launched on the popular handheld first, it’s strange that Capcom would choose to skip it this time around.
We will continue to bring you the latest news on Resident Evil: Revelations 2 in the coming months, so stay tuned.
