In news that shouldn’t surprise many, particularly after a Steam listing and online retailer Amazon France slated the action-adventure sequel for late January, Square Enix and developer Crystal Dynamics have formally confirmed that Rise of the Tomb Raider will make the jump to PC platforms on January 28, 2016.
Scot Amos, Co-Head of Studio at Crystal Dynamics, trumpeted Rise‘s launch across Windows 10 and Steam, saying the following:
“The PC release of Rise of the Tomb Raider continues the positive momentum from our highly successful partnership and collaboration with Microsoft for the launch on Xbox One and Xbox 360.”
Keen to build on the momentum of the game’s timed-exclusive Xbox launch late last year, Square is targeting a healthy boon in sales later this month, and you can find the minimum PC specifications below.
Elsewhere, sales of Rise of the Tomb Raider appear to be simmering north of one million units, after Microsoft revealed just yesterday that its roster of high-profile exclusives have each broke past the milestone. Crystal’s sequel still has a ways to go before pulling level with the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot, though, which has sold over 8.5 million as of April 2015. With two platforms still to go, we’re confident that Rise will get its due eventually.
Rise of the Tomb Raider will make the jump to PC on January 28 in North America, before releasing across PlayStation platforms in late 2016 – likely in and around the same window as the Xbox release of November 10.
