Rocket League‘s basketball mode will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Steam at some point in April, developer Psyonix has confirmed via Twitter.

The Tweet on the game’s official page reads: “Break some axles in the Dunk House this April!” It’s followed by a small clip of in-game footage as well, showing off how the new mode will differ from the standard, soccer-inspired gameplay.

Judging from the clip, basketball mode definitely looks like it’ll be far more stunt and skill-based in comparison to the current standard mode, which is all about precision and perfect handling of the ball as you coax it towards the goal. But let’s not kid ourselves, Rocket League is a game that splices traditional sports with literal rocket-powered cars, so it shouldn’t be taken too seriously.

Either way, we’ll be able to see first-hand how well basketball mode stacks up against the playlists already on offer before the end of April at the latest, and there’s certainly a lot of people waiting patiently for it- Psyonix recently announced that the extreme sports/arcade title now has over 12 million players across all three platforms.

A physical, retail version of Rocket League is on its way to stores later this year too, and it’ll contain exclusive, retail-only content in addition to any prior paid DLC that’s been released in the interim.
