After a Sony employee let news slip of the port in the comments section of the PlayStation Blog, Finnish developer Housemarque has officially announced plans to bring Resogun to PlayStation Vita.

Taking to Twitter, the studio confirmed that the portable version will be handled by UK-based company Climax Studios — who have previously produced titles such as Silent Hill: Origins.

This announcement comes hot on the heels of the game’s recently released, Halloween-themed DLC, which transforms the in-game Humans into ghostly ghouls and skeletons. Much like some of Resogun‘s previous add-ons, the content pack is free of charge, and PlayStation 4 owners who fire up their ship before November 1st will get the DLC automatically.

Keen to maintain Resogun‘s appeal, Housemarque also teased that there will be more additions to the game as the studio’s makes the preparations to celebrate the game’s one-year anniversary. In terms of a release date for the PlayStation Vita port, we’ll most likely have to wait until Sony makes the announcement in the coming weeks.

Either way, Housemarque’s hyper-kinetic shooter is arguably one of the best digital titles available for PlayStation 4 — even at this stage in the console’s life cycle. And given the twitchy nature of the studio’s space-set adventure, we readily expect that the game will feel right at home on the PlayStation Vita.
