Heavy Rain: Finger Removal/ Saw Homage
Heavy Rain was a heavy game. I played it at a particularly dark point in my life, too, so it felt like darkness stacked upon darkness for me as I made my way through it, frantically quick-timing from one messed up scenario to another. Just like GTA V (and all the other games on this list), I had quite a few moments to pick from here. Hell, the lap dance scene was wickedly uncomfortable and almost beat this one out. But the finger cut during The Lizard Trial section of Heavy Rain definitely takes the cake.
The long and short of it is is that you have cut off a segment of one of your fingers. Again, what makes this so insane is that you have multiple ways to go about doing it, from a saw to scissors. But what’s interesting is, if you play the game right, there are a few other things you can use, too. The whiskey will make it seem less painful, and you can find anesthetic which you can use before or after to keep it from getting infected. Hell, you can even cauterize the wound.
Those little levels of detail are what take it from a twisted quick time event into a truly disturbing moment. Of course, you could just pussy out and not do it, too. But come on, who the fuck would waste a insane moment like that by acting cautiously?
Hell, choose the saw and do it like a man.
