Sonic Generations, the next adventure of SEGA mascot Sonic the Hedgehog that mixes the best of Sonic past and present, will be hitting North American shelves right between this holiday season’s other big releases on November 1.
Sonic Generations is the game that diehard Sonic fans have been begging for since the Dreamcast days. The game is split into two distinct play styles. Classic Sonic features the old-school, 2D side-scrolling action, and features a shorter, chubbier, mute hedgehog. Modern Sonic is tall, skinny, and has green eyes, and switches perspective from 2D to 3D depending on where the player is in the level.
I must say, as a life long Sonic fan, and as someone who sat at the SEGA booth for two hours at E3 playing the same two levels over and over again, this is great news.
Although, I can’t help but think that SEGA may have shot themselves in the foot by releasing the game the same day as Uncharted 3, the week after Battlefield 3, and the week before Modern Warfare 3. Although, it will be nice to have a game released that doesn’t have a “3” in the title.
What say you, gamers?
