During Phil Spencer’s GDC 2015 conference, it was revealed that popular PC space-sim Elite: Dangerous will be coming to the Xbox One this summer.
Released back in December on Windows PC, the Xbox One version of Elite: Dangerous marks the first time that the title will appear on a home console. The version will feature everything that has been added to the PC version over the past few months, including March’s upcoming Wings update.
Hearing concerns from fans of the title, Frontier Developments’ CEO David Braben posted a message on the game’s official forums to reiterate that the Xbox One version will not be a lesser version of the title.
Elite: Dangerous on Xbox One will be the complete and authentic Elite: Dangerous experience. It will not be “dumbed down”. We’ll be working with an all-new audience, but that doesn’t mean a change in direction for the game, and nor does it mean slowing development on the PC version.
Braben also announced that the Xbox One, Windows PC, and upcoming MAC versions of Elite: Dangerous “will all share the same overarching narrative and galaxy state.”
As for one of the other major consoles out there, the PlayStation 4, Braben says the title will head to the platform further down the line.
@smallfaraway_ Sure. Mac of course, then down the line we will support more, including PS4. The XB1 is a timed exclusive.

I have a terrible laptop as my main computer, so I have not had the chance to check out Elite: Dangerous yet. However, the original PC release achieved great reviews, and currently holds a score of 80 on Metacritic. Suffice to say, I will be interested in playing the title when it releases on the Xbox One.
