It’s been over a year since Square Enix first unveiled Final Fantasy XV — the revamped version of the long-gestating Versus XIII — and we’ve gradually been treated with new looks at the studio’s huge, open world-styled sequel. But today, Square has went one over and released the first English-dubbed trailer for the RPG, which showcases how on point the localization really is.
Unfortunately, it is frame for frame the same gameplay trailer we first saw at Tokyo Game Show back in September, once again starring the colorful and eclectic cast. For Final Fantasy XV, players will step into the shoes of Noctis Lucis Caelum, a would-be prince who will soon inherit the dynasty of Lucis. Much like Final Fantasy XIII, Square’s latest iteration in the beloved series will revolve around crystals — or the Fabula Nova Crystallis, to be specific — with our protagonist out to recover the final shard in his homeland.
For those eager to jump into a vertical slice of the upcoming, open-world sequel, a demo for Final Fantasy XV will be included with the upcoming port of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD when it becomes available on March 17, 2015 in North America. Mind you, this will be the only means of accessing the trial, as Square Enix has no plans to release the demo as a standalone product.
“We’re never going to release it as a stand-alone piece down the line,” Square Enix product marketing manager Scott Strichart explained. “Secondly, it’s intended to be a special gift for those of you who purchase early–the demo will be limited to the ‘Day One’ edition of the game, meaning that only the first shipment is going to have the demo in it.”
