As part of this weekend’s Star Wars Celebration taking place in Europe, Electronic Arts took to the stage to discuss the future of Star Wars Battlefront DLC. Besides offering up details on the upcoming Death Star expansion, the publisher revealed that the Rogue One: Scarif DLC will mark the final release for the shooter.
Slated to drop in September, the Death Star DLC will feature new heroes, maps, vehicles and Star Cards. The two new playable characters include the popular Wookie Chewbaca, and the less popular Trandoshan bounty hunter Bossk. While the new maps weren’t detailed yet, we do know that the action will take place both inside and outside the Death Star.
Following this holiday season, will be the Rogue One: Scarif expansion. Battlefront director Niklas Fegraeus didn’t reveal too much about the content, other than that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story protagonist Jyn Erso will be playable and that the action will take place on Scarif. While not said to be playable, villain Director Krennic will also appear in-game.
With no Star Wars game scheduled for release this fall, it makes sense that EA DICE would expand their popular shooter with Rogue One content. The anticipated film will only drive fans to picking up the game once again, and if this DLC is well received, it could theoretically lead to an uptick in Season Pass sales.
We’ll continue to have coverage of both the Death Star and Rogue One: Scarif expansions for Star Wars Battlefront over the coming months, so stay tuned!
