Star Wars Battlefront‘s most recent DLC pack – Outer Rim – will be free-to-play this weekend on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, EA has announced. From May 13 to 15, the SoroSuub Refinery, Pipelines on Sullust, Jabba’s Palace and the Palace Garage maps will be available for all owners of the base game to try out as part of a “special surprise” for the community.
Our team has been working hard to bring new content to the battlefront and we wanted to share a special surprise with the community. From May 13th to May 15th, all players will have the chance to go hands-on with the maps, modes and heroes from our Star Wars™ Battlefront™ Outer Rim content, free for a limited time.
Along with the above, Greedo and Nien Nunb – the expansion’s Hero and Villain respectively – will be playable, as will the new objective-based Extraction mode, which tasks Rebel players with escorting a valuable transport through several checkpoints in an effort to reach the extraction point. The Empire’s job is to hinder progress as much as possible.
Three more expansions are currently planned to release for Battlefront over the rest of the year and into 2017. Bespin is next up and planned for release in June, with the Death Star pack to follow in the Fall. The third – still unnamed – add-on is due in early 2017.
If you’ve got some free time on your hands this weekend, it looks like Star Wars Battlefront‘s got you covered.
