Developer Crystal Dynamics plans to launch Rise of the Tomb Raider for PC much sooner than expected, according to a Steam listing that slates the adventure sequel for a January 2016 release on the platform.
Having launched as a Xbox One timed-exclusive early last month, a partnership between Microsoft and Crystal means that Rise of the Tomb Raider will remain exclusive to the Xbox One until 2016, when it will rappel onto both PC and PlayStation 4.
And though there’s still no official word on the release timeline for either platform – the PS4 version is tentatively slated for fall 2016 – today’s Steam listing would appear to suggest that Crystal’s acclaimed follow-up will make the jump to other systems sooner rather than later. While we await an official statement from Crystal and/or Microsoft, here’s the image in question via NeoGAF:
Indeed it aligns with previous retailer posts that revealed Rise of the Tomb Raider would hit PC on January 29, 2016. We’ll find out soon one way or the other, but it seems that Lara Croft is ready to spread her wings on new hardware after a mooted launch on Xbox One.
Rise of the Tomb Raider debuted for Xbox One earlier this year, and we championed it as one of the very best titles to release in 2015.
