Recommended:

OS: Windows 7 / Windows 8.1 / Windows 10
Processor: Intel Core i7 2600 3.4 GHz / AMD FX 8150 3.6 GHz

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 / ATI Radeon HD 7850

Eagle-eyed fans will notice that Dark Souls III and Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin share similar hardware requirements, not counting the former’s hefty size and welcome Windows 10 support. If the past is any indication, though, including the October stress test, Dark Souls III should function fine on all mid-tier machines.

PC players will never know of the fluctuating frame rates that plagued Blighttown (Dark Souls) and The Gutter (Dark Souls II), but console owners (read: guinea pigs) were at the mercy of technical hiccups, which caused people to plummet from poorly lit scaffolds. The masochistic gameplay aside, cheap deaths only caused more rage quits. Dark Souls and Dark Souls II arrived on Steam months later, but cleansing Lordran and Drangleic at sixty frames per second made each delay worth it.

As was recently confirmed, however, Dark Souls III will spread the darkness to all platforms on April 12, 2016, meaning that the PC coterie can revel in the horror on the same day as their console cousins.

Tell us which version you plan to buy in the comments, and while you wait for the latest Dark Souls III tidbits, watch a walking tree grow progressively pissed at a foolhardy knight in the video below.
