Two of Nintendo’s biggest recent releases are set to come together, as the company announced tonight that a Super Mario Maker level is coming to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS. The DLC level is scheduled to launch on September 30, and will carry a cost of $2.49 per platform, or $3.49 for both.
Featuring assets from Super Mario World, Super Mario Bros. 3, New Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros., the level is unique from the rest of the Super Smash Bros. levels. Instead of being the same boring stage each time out, it will be constantly changing. It won’t look the same when the match begins, and it will dynamically change during the match itself. To make things even more hectic, a large realistic hand does the editing, which also includes replacing broken blocks.
Super Mario Maker has already proven to be a smash for Nintendo, so it’s not surprising that they are tapping into its popularity for the next Super Smash Bros. level. It may not immediately make sense, but seeing it in action in the brief trailer released for the stage, it looks like it is going to be a chaotic blast to fight on.
With the Super Mario Maker level not slated to launch until the end of the month, we’ll keep you updated on if The Big N announces any other additional DLC for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS.
