Telltale Games, the prolific studio behind such episodic series as The Walking Dead, Tales from the Borderlands and Minecraft: Story Mode, is about to venture into Gotham City for its latest licensed property, Batman: A Telltale Games Series.

First unveiled during The Game Awards 2015 late last year, the only concrete detail we have regarding the story-driven title is that it’s due to premiere at some point in 2016.

Applying the Telltale formula to the Batman template certainly offers up a general overview as to what we can expect, though according to the studio’s CEO Kevin Bruner, Telltale’s episodic spin on the Caped Crusader is unlike any other Batman game available.

Our Batman series is looking fantastic. I think it might become one of the best things we’ve ever done. I can’t go into much detail, but the Batman team is amazing and they are really on top of it. It’s not like any other Batman game out there. This game really explores all aspects of Batman, not just the the ‘fighting in the suit’ side of him. There’s a lot of subplots to explore and some really amazing choices that have a big impact on the story being told. I really think it might be the peak of the mountain for us so far.

With so many licensed projects in the works at the same time, you’d be forgiven for losing track of which Telltale property is arriving next. But Bruner notes that, at 350 employees strong, the studio is beginning to settle on a regular content schedule, and is currently dedicating resources to Game of Thrones Season 2, The Walking Dead Season 3 and the Michonne spinoff, an unknown Marvel property and now Batman.

Batman: A Telltale Games Series is expected to premiere in late 2016, but are you interested to see Telltale’s rendition of Gotham City and its eccentric inhabitants? Sound off below and let us know.
