Holy episodic series, Batman! Developer Telltale Games is on the verge of unmasking its upcoming title Batman: A Telltale Games Series – and it’s due to occur sooner than you may think.
As one of the final hurrahs of the SXSW media festival, the studio has confirmed plans to showcase the “very first details” for its latest licensed title, one set to explore Bats himself, “the duality of his own identity, and the struggle of responsibility in saving a city overcome with corruption and villainy.”
Moderated by Kinda Funny’s Greg Miller, expect the event to get underway at 4:30 PM PST / 7:30 PM EST later this evening. An official title and a premiere date appears to be the safe bets, but we’ll be holding out for a brief glimpse at gameplay, too.
Shaping up to be unlike any other Batman game that has come before, here’s what Telltale had to say in a recent status report.
Our Batman series is looking fantastic. I think it might become one of the best things we’ve ever done. I can’t go into much detail, but the Batman team is amazing and they are really on top of it. It’s not like any other Batman game out there. This game really explores all aspects of Batman, not just the the ‘fighting in the suit’ side of him. There’s a lot of subplots to explore and some really amazing choices that have a big impact on the story being told. I really think it might be the peak of the mountain for us so far.
Truth be told, barring a brief teaser during The Game Awards 2015, there’s much we don’t know about the Batman: A Telltale Games Series. That all changes tonight, though, with the studio due to unmask its own rendition of the Caped Crusader at 4:30 PM PST / 7:30 PM EST later this evening.
