While we’re still reeling from the explosive Star Wars Battlefront trailer from earlier today – which showcased a really rather epic battle across the vast expanses of Hoth – Sony has doubled down on its third-party content with some PlayStation-exclusive wares in DICE’s upcoming shooter.
Couple this with the recent announcement pertaining to Call of Duty: Black Ops III and Activision’s revised, PS-friendly DLC plans and it’s clear that third-party content will prove to be a huge facet in Sony’s masterplan going into the crucial holiday season. And though Black Ops III‘s exclusivity deal will largely encompass post-launch bonuses – not to mention the exclusive beta – Battlefront‘s PlayStation-exclusive content will include some story missions and multiplayer maps.
Said content was revealed in the latest trailer for DICE’s anticipated shooter, which features series stalwart Admiral Ackbar barking orders in classic fashion. In an announcement that will make Halo 5: Guardians‘ fans weep, Star Wars Battlefront will indeed include split-screen co-op mode. One of which is the objective-based Survival mode, and we also see references to some beloved characters, including Luke Skywalker.
As the creative minds behind Battlefield, the multiplayer segment in Battlefront is arguably the main attraction, and DICE is ensuring that both newcomers and fans of the beloved IP can get the most out of the experience.
In Star Wars Battlefront you can battle in epic 40 multiplayer battles reminiscent of The Battle of Hoth. As the Empire, you must accompany AT-AT walkers as they march towards the Rebel base to destroy it. And as a Rebel, you must do everything you can to stop them.
Star Wars Battlefront lands on November 17.
