While Respawn Entertainment’s highly anticipated Titanfall is a multiplayer only affair, those looking forward to large scale action may have to look elsewhere. CEO Vince Zampella confirmed via Twitter this week that the shooter will max out at 12 human players per match.

Focusing on 6 versus 6 action, Titanfall‘s limit on human combatants come as a result of extensive testing, as Zampella noted that this “turned out to be the best balance with AI for us.” Before you freak out about the lack of enemies on your map though, do remember that in addition to the real players, there will also be AI partners and enemies. So Titanfall will still feature large-scale matches, just not with the same amount of humans as we’ve seen in some other shooters.

I feel like there is good and bad to take from this announcement. On one hand, I’m glad to see that Respawn Entertainment is taking the time to properly test the title and to make sure it can run without any game-crippling problems. On the other hand, the 12 human player limit is pretty small, especially in comparison to something like Battlefield 4, which also comes via Electronic Arts and features 64 player battles. Of course, everyone knows about the disastrous launch that game had, so perhaps this limit is for the best.

Titanfall is currently scheduled to be released on March 11th for the Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows PC. Are you disappointed with Respawn Entertainment’s decision to limit the multiplayer to 12 players? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
