New competitive mini-game Tumble is now available to play on all console versions of Minecraft, developer Mojang has announced. Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Wii U owners can now challenge friends and acquaintances to do battle in the free new content, which is far more dangerous than the name suggests.
Up to eight players can engage in the free-for-all mode at once, which plonks you in a multi-layered arena hanging above a rather hot pit of lava. The aim of the game is simple: survive until you’re the last one left whose feet are planted firmly on the ground.
Of course, there’s a few unpredictable variables that make such a feat quite difficult Everyone else will be attempting to stay out of the hot bubbling ooze below, and will attempt to knock you off to your doom by pelting you with snowballs or simply destroying your footing with a well placed swing of their shovel. You’ll want to be careful where you dig, however, as there’s a very real chance that you’ll be digging up TNT blocks along with mud and soil.
Tumble isn’t the only new content released with today’s patch. Battle Map Pack #3, which includes three new maps for previously released mini-game Battle has also been made available for $2.99.
In related news, Mojang revealed earlier this month that the Windows 10 version of Minecraft now supports the use of Oculus Rift, perhaps suggesting that we could well get a similar version that utilizes Sony’s PlayStation VR in the future.
