The popular video streaming site Twitch is asking users to keep their clothes on – and to avoid wearing anything too suggestible – while on webcam. Streamers who are not prepared to comply with this ruling could have their channel suspended. In their up-to-date terms of service, the company explained that:
Nerds are sexy and you’re all magnificent, beautiful creatures, but let’s try and keep this about the games, shall we? You may have a great six-pack but that’s better shared on the beach during a 2-on-2 volleyball game blasting ‘Playing with the Boys’.
Some people may feel this to be a somewhat Draconian rule, and EuroGamer are asking whether this new decree applies to users who are streaming from a place that’s warm and need to remove items of clothing in order to stay cool. Twitch’s response to this is for users to simply, “crop the webcam to your face” adding, “we sell t-shirts, and those are always acceptable.”
Banned items on the website’s list include, lingerie, swimsuits or underwear on display, and of course, going full nude while on webcam is a definite no-no.
Tell us, what do you think about Twitch forcing users to wear decent clothing while streaming content? Do you agree with it?
