In theory, 2014 was supposed to be the year that Ubisoft brought the Assassin’s Creed to new heights, releasing two fully-fledged console games in tandem with one another in the form of Rogue and Unity. However, thanks to a number of prolonged technical issues that plagued the latter title, the franchise has seen its reputation tarnished somewhat.

Even still, the IP remains as one of Ubisoft’s key tentpoles, and speculation has already begun simmering online as to where the publisher will take the clandestine series in 2015. According to leaked photos, this year’s entry will be titled Victory and be situated in Victorian London, but given the sheer size of Ubisoft as a company, there’s no doubting that the creative team has been brainstorming for 2016’s release as well, and today we’ve got our first indication of where it will be placed.

Coming by way of Ubisoft’s forums, the clue was spotted by user Cornik22 buried within an image (see above) which sees the reception of Abstergo Entertainment — the fictional in-game company — decorated with tiles from various geographic locations across the globe. What’s interesting, though, is that these locales can be matched with each mainline Assassin’s Creed game to date, including the Caribbean and Paris. That said, the two purported locations for the 2015 and 2016 entries appear in the collage too, specifically London’s Houses of Parliament and Toyko’s Sensō-ji Buddhist temple.

While this is by no means an out-and-out confirmation, Cornik22 raises an interesting point. Besides, if Victory does indeed take place in London as those leaked stills suggest, then all signs point to the Assassin’s Creed of 2016 heading east.

But what do you think? Indeed do you think an Assassin’s Creed set in The Land of the Rising Sun would be something you would be interest in? Let us know below.
