Today marked the end of an agonizingly long wait for JRPG fans. The second installment of The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky series was released, with the Second Chapter being made available digitally on the PlayStation Store for PSP in North America, and on Windows PC for everywhere else.
The game is as direct as a sequel can be to the original, taking place just hours after the finale of the first outing, which was originally released in Japan all the way back in 2004 but didn’t make it over to the states until 2011, where it was published by XSeed Games. The publishers, who are an American subsidiary of the Japanese Marvelous Inc., have now returned to distribute the sequel. Both games were developed by Nihon Falcom.
Part of the reason the first game took so long to make it in the States was due to its sheer size and scope, taking an immense amount of effort to localize for the English-speaking market. The Second Chapter looks to have the same epic length and meticulously detailed worlds of its predecessor.
The Executive Vice President of Marvelous USA, Ken Barry, spoke of the hype surrounding the release:
“We’ve been looking forward to this announcement for the last four years—ever since our release of the original The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky. Fans have fervently requested the release of Second Chapter following their first adventure into Liberl, so we’re extremely happy to finally be able to make that a reality.”
The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky: Second Chapter is out now for the Sony PSP from the PlayStation Store and for Windows PC from Steam and GOG.com.
