It’s time for another episode of WGTC Radio, the official podcast of We Got This Covered! Remember to subscribe for free in iTunes by following this link!
As explained in Episode #69.5, a major technical malfunction required us to record this week’s episode a second time, thus delaying its release to today – November 15th, the launch of the hotly anticipated PlayStation 4 in North America, and the end of the current – now previous – generation of video game consoles: the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3, and the Nintendo Wii.
To celebrate the start of the next console generation, this week’s episode is a special, in-depth, and above all else, lengthily retrospective of the past eight years of gaming history, beginning in 2005 with the launch of the Xbox 360, and continuing all the way to the present day, with discussions of all the best and most important video games, our memories of getting and playing these great consoles, and our thoughts on the major trends and takeaways from this generation of gaming.
It may have taken two tries to get this one recorded, but we are glad we finally got it done. As we say near the end of the show, this has been a pretty incredible eight years of video games, and it seems fitting that our longest episode to date be devoted to discussing everything this console generation brought us.
And, just for good measure, we talk Doctor Who for a little bit at the beginning. Because that is what we do (and there was a new mini-episode, which fans should absolutely watch if they haven’t already).
Enjoy!
