DOOM is out in the wild and reviews are slowly starting to emerge. There haven’t been too, too many to hit the Internet as of yet, though, and there’s a reason for that. It’s the same reason as to why we haven’t published our in-depth thoughts, although you can rest assured that we’ll be doing so soon.
As you may have heard, Bethesda opted to hold off on sending out DOOM review codes until launch day. Their reasoning related to the game’s servers being required for both its multiplayer and SnapMap features.
Since we didn’t get the game until Friday, and couldn’t start it until late that night, we haven’t been able to post our full thoughts yet. So far, we’ve sunk a good amount of time into the campaign and are nearing its end with just a handful of missions to go. On top of that, we’ve also tried our hand at some demonic multiplayer. That being said, though, we want to make sure we beat the story mode and have enough time to test both the online arenas and the game’s SnapMap feature before posting a review.
Please check back in a couple of days in order to find out what we think of id Software’s new take on the DOOM license, as we hope to have our review live by Tuesday or Wednesday.
