World Of Warcraft‘s sixth expansion – Legion – will release August 30, developer Blizzard Entertainment has confirmed. Announcing the release date on the hugely-popular MMO’s official website, the blurb says players will face “a great and ancient enemy” that has “set its sights on Azeroth once more.”

Defenders of the Alliance and the Hordeā€”a great and ancient enemy has set its sights on Azeroth once more, and soon the land will be consumed in a storm of fel fire. Starting on August 30, kingdoms will burn, heroes will fall, and the world will stand on the precipice of destruction with the launch of World of Warcraft: Legion!

Blizzard has previously teased some of the new features that fans will have access to in Legion, including a new Demon Hunter class – which you can access early if you pre-order – and an entirely new area to explore called the The Broken Isles.

Along with the August 30 release date, Blizzard also announced that if you pre-purchase the expansion, you’ll be granted access to an instant level-100 character boost, doing away with any potential level grinding you have had to partake in without it to access the new content.

Along with a digital edition, Blizzard also confirmed that a physical retail edition will also be available, both of which will cost $49.99. If you’re happy to go the extra mile and spend a little bit extra, you can opt to pre-order the $69.99 deluxe edition instead, which comes with a bunch of extra content for some of Blizzard’s other titles, including Diablo III and Heroes Of The Storm.

Keep an eye out for more information on World Of Warcraft‘s Legion expansion in the months leading up to release.
