The Xbox One had a very merry Christmas in 2015, it seems. As part of the new year celebrations, Microsoft has announced that all of its major exclusives have shipped over 1 million units and beyond. That means the likes of Rise Of The Tomb Raider, Halo 5: Guardians, Gears Of War: Ultimate Edition and Forza Motorsport 6 were all smashing successes with gamers – but that’s not all.
According to the announcement, the success of the Xbox One’s incredibly strong line-up of exclusives in 2015 also means it has officially surpassed the Xbox 360 “at the same point in time in the Xbox 360 generation, making it the best-selling console in Xbox console history.”
It’s not just all thanks to the aforementioned games though. Microsoft has also attributed the One’s increase in sales to popular software updates like the New Xbox One Experience, which brought with it the long-awaited backwards compatibility feature.
2015 was a monumental year for Xbox – the biggest in our history – and we owe it all to our gaming community. We saw record global engagement and sales fuelled by high demand for our greatest games line-up and hardware and accessories like the best-selling Xbox One Gears of War: Ultimate Edition Bundle and our Elite Controller. Every title in our exclusive 2015 holiday games line-up – Halo 5: Guardians, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Forza Motorsport 6 and Gears of War: Ultimate Edition – sold over 1 million units, and the number of Xbox One gamers who played Microsoft Studios-published titles more than doubled compared to 2014.
Don’t expect a reprieve from the onslaught of Xbox exclusives in 2016 either – there’s just as many hugely-anticipated titles releasing this year, too. Gears Of War 4, Quantum Break, Crackdown 3, ReCore, Sea Of Thieves and Halo Wars 2 are all slated to drop in 2016, and we’re giddy with anticipation to get our hands on all of them.
