10 Awesome Easter Eggs You May Have Missed In Deadpool 2

Deadpool 2 is finally here and, as you might expect, it's bulging with easter eggs. Of course, most superhero movies feature a whole lot of easter eggs and references to the comic books they're based on and maybe other films in the same franchise, so this might not sound like anything too surprising. Deadpool 2, however, is on a completely different level.

Josh Brolin makes his debut as Cable in Deadpool 2 and the pic has a lot of fun playing with the filmography of the actor himself and the character’s comic book history.

Nickname-wise, Deadpool calls the cyborg from the future a few memorable insults throughout the movie, including “John Connor” – an obvious reference to the Terminator franchise – and “One-eyed Willy.” This was the pirate from The Goonies, the classic 80s film which Brolin starred in as a teen. When describing Cable to his X-Force teammates, meanwhile, Deadpool calls him short at 5″11 and not tall like in the comics. This is a joke that those who read the source material will get, as Cable’s said to be a towering 6″10 on the page.

As for the character’s backstory, Deadpool 2 stops short of digging into the hugely convoluted life of Cable from the comics – there’s no mention of the fact that’s he’s Cyclops’ son, for one. However, we do find out that his daughter is named Hope towards the end of the film. Hope Summers is the Mutant Messiah in the comics and an important character in the Avengers vs. X-Men storyline.
