10 Awesome Easter Eggs You May Have Missed In Deadpool 2

Deadpool 2 is finally here and, as you might expect, it's bulging with easter eggs. Of course, most superhero movies feature a whole lot of easter eggs and references to the comic books they're based on and maybe other films in the same franchise, so this might not sound like anything too surprising. Deadpool 2, however, is on a completely different level.

Nothing Can Stop The Juggernaut

There’d been rumours that Juggernaut was going to make his long-awaited return to the X-Men franchise in Deadpool 2 for a while and sure enough, the big guy appears in the form of an enormous CGI creation that’s much closer to the comics character than Vinnie Jones’ interpretation from X-Men: The Last Stand.

It turns out Deadpool’s a massive fan of Cain Marko, as he refers to him as his “favourite Marvel character” at one stage. He also lists off numerous X-Men comic issues when encountering him for the first time. When about to face him again later on in the film, Wade comments that “nothing can stop the Juggernaut.” This is the title of an iconic two-part comic story which saw Spider-Man battle the X-Men villain (see The Amazing Spider-Man #229-230).

The film even alludes to Juggernaut’s complicated backstory. Russell chats with his new pal before they attack the orphanage, enquiring about why he wears his helmet. It’s revealed that he wears it to stop his brother from reading his mind. Juggernaut concurs and says that it’s a fair trade as his brother’s in a wheelchair. He’s indeed referring to Professor X, as the pair are stepbrothers in the comics.
