10 Things We Learned From The New Spider-Man: Homecoming Trailer

This is one of the biggest years ever for the comic book movie genre. With the last appearance of Wolverine, the first solo movie for Wonder Woman and the assembly of the Justice League, it might have been hard for yet another Spider-Man movie to stand out. Thankfully, though, the first trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming that was released a few months ago got us hugely excited for it and somehow, the newly-released second trailer, which dropped this morning, is even better.

4) Peter’s Journey Of Self-Discovery

The fact that Peter not only loses his suit but also the support of Tony Stark is clearly the impetus for his character arc in Homecoming. Even if it isn’t the usual origins story – bitten by a radioactive spider, Uncle Ben’s death, with great power comes great yada yada – the movie will still give us the story of how Peter became the Spider-Man we know and love.

The next few sequences shown in the trailer tell us that Peter will have to go on a journey of self-discovery in order to defeat Vulture. Now that he’s out on his own, he’ll learn the importance and self-sacrifice of being a hero. As Marisa Tomei’s Aunt May says: “you need to stop carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders.”

We also get some more footage of Vulture. Like all the best villains, Toomes makes things personal between him and Spidey when he threatens Peter’s family if he doesn’t stop messing with his plans.

What’s the betting that Peter keeps on at it, anyway?
