1.5 Million People Have Now Signed Up To Raid Area 51

Though it started off as just a joke, the plan to raid Area 51 has now attracted the interest of 1.5 million people, and a lot of them are serious.

A silly event called “Storm Area 51, They Can’t Stop All of Us” popped up on Facebook a few weeks ago, encouraging folks to come together to storm the United States Air Force facility located in Nevada. Though it was most likely started as a joke, the hope is apparently that if enough people attend, they’ll be able to overwhelm those who protect it and finally be able to prove that there’s evidence of UFOs and aliens hidden within the base.

At first, the event only had a few thousand people interested, and no one really thought much of it, but recently, it’s gone viral and now, has roughly 1.5 million people signed up, all ready to storm Area 51 later this year. Not to mention that there’s many others who’ve said they’re interested in attending the event and may very well do so.

In fact, this little stunt has even caught the attention of the U.S. Air Force. Issuing a statement earlier this week, they warned folks not to go ahead with the raid, saying:

“[Area 51] is an open training range for the US Air Force, and we would discourage anyone from trying to come into the area where we train American armed forces… The US Air Force always stands ready to protect America and its assets.”

Though it’s pretty clear that this is more of a joke than anything else, with 1.5 million people now saying they’ll be attending, we imagine that Area 51 may find themselves with a bit of a crisis on their hands come September. Sure, not everyone who says they’ll be participating actually will, but even if only 10%, or 5%, show up, well, who knows what might happen?

Thankfully, many people simply aren’t brave/dumb enough to go along with this stunt and given that some will be happier sitting at home and not getting shot at by the Air Force, we have good news for you. And that’s that the whole thing will actually be streamed online, allowing the entire world to watch this sure to be disaster unfold. Again, we imagine only a very small portion of the people who say they’re interested will actually put their money where their mouth is and show up, but it’ll still be fascinating to see how this Area 51 situation plays out.
