Ranking 2015’s 10 Highest Grossing Movies From Worst To Best

While reviews are obviously still a very important factor in their success, all anyone seems to care about these days is how much a movie ends up making. Box office receipts have of course always been important, but as more and more releases manage to earn upwards of $1 billion worldwide, that's become the figure to hit in order to truly be considered a success by the majority of analysts.

Worldwide Box Office: $1.6 Billion (#2)

Seeing as it was so massively popular (not even expert box office analysts expected it to make such an impact), I almost feel bad for not liking Jurassic World more that I actually do. However, it definitely feels like a lot of moviegoers got caught up in the nostalgia factor, as everything from the paper thin characters to the annoying kids and cringeworthy Jimmy Fallon cameo really held this one back.

Still, you can’t deny that for what it lacked in certain areas, Jurassic World more than made up for with the dinosaurs. And really, that’s what people came to see.

The Indominus rex wasn’t really the iconic and memorable monster which it initially seemed it might be, but Colin Trevorrow deserves credit for some very fun and inventive scenes, and it’s admittedly difficult to think of a cooler moment in last year’s movies than those Raptors running alongside Owen’s motorbike.

Like Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Jurassic World managed to resurrect a franchise that most of us had assumed was extinct, and though its box office takings ensure that sequels will be plentiful, it’s going to be interesting to see how things develop from here, especially with Trevorrow moving on and setting his sights on a Galaxy Far, Far Away.
