When something is unveiled in Hollywood and the public respond with cries of disgust and faeces throwing, somebody gets fired and then Hollywood tries again. That’s the system that seems to have resulted in a whole bunch of new Killing Them Softly posters, anyway, after the initial prints were met with a shrug-like reception from people who were shrug-like about watching the movie in the first place.
These posters don’t actually feature any human beings, and are more like the kind of posters you get on the internet, engineered by talented fans with a passion for artistry. That’s to say, they’re cool and stylish, and it’s nice to see the marketing team have responded with something worthwhile. You can check them out below.
Considering the upcoming release date of the movie, these posters might not make their way into actual theatres or onto actual bus stops, so they’ve been put online instead. It’s called viral marketing, okay? It’s big now.
The film, which stars Brad Pitt and Ray Liotta, was directed by Andrew Dominik (The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford). It centres on a hitman (Pitt) who must clean up a mess left by two incompetent gangsters with Mob associations.
So what do you think of these new posters? Worth the effort?
Killing Them Softly is out in theatres on November 30th.
