Here are three movies that may not be on your radar, since it has probably been clouded by the likes of Harry Potter, The Social Network and Jackass 3D.
1.) Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps
The theme for this fall seems to be yet more sequels. Hollywood seems to keep digging up the old classics and either refurbishing them or continuing them. In this case, it could be quite interesting. Michael Douglas returns as the beloved (or hated) Gordon Gekko. Joining him this time is Shia LaBeouf, who is a small-time trader planning on marrying Gekko’s daughter – Winnie Gekko (Carey Mulligan). Rounding out the cast are Josh Brolin, Susan Sarandon, Frank Langella and even a cameo from Charlie Sheen. Oliver Stone (The Doors, Natural Born Killers) returns as director.
2.) Machete
From the maker of such classics as Desperado, Sin City, From Dusk Till Dawn, Spy Kids, and Planet Terror, now comes Machete. A political satire of sorts, Machete began as one of three fake trailers in Planet Terror from the classic Grindhouse, a double feature from Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino. The three trailers were intended as a joke. But with the politically charged situation in Arizona, Rodriguez simply added the current events of the day to the revenge story of an assassin who is double crossed. In the mix are Rodriguez-regulars such as Danny Trejo (playing the main character, Machete), Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodgiguez, and Cheech Marin. Rodriguez also added Robert DeNiro, Steven Seagal, and Lindsay Lohan to the mix. This one is going to be tons of fun.
3.) Gulliver’s Travels
The Bermuda Triangle. The hidden island of Lilliput. Little People tying down a giant Jack Black. Jack Black then playing foosball with said little people. Based on the classic novel by Jonathan Swift. Um, nuff said.
