2) Justice League: Mortal – Kieran & Michele Mulroney
Nowadays, the Internet is continuously talking about Zack Snyder/Warner Bros.’ upcoming Batman V Superman and Justice League movies – either in good or bad tone. But did you know that Warner was already planning to make a film adaptation of the Justice League a good seven, eight years ago? George Miller was set to helm and the characters already cast; Armie Hammer as Batman, D.J. Cotrona as Superman, Adam Brody as The Flash and so on. In fact, filming was actually set to begin in early 2008.
But, for whatever reason, the project was put on indefinite hold, and it ultimately fell apart. It’s just one of those things that simply didn’t work out. And maybe that’s for the best – since had this film come out, who knows what that would’ve meant for Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy.
A few years later, the script for Justice League: Mortal made its way over to the Internet. And the weird thing is that it’s actually good. In fact, it’s really good.
The script is just what you’d expect from a Justice League movie. There’s Batman, Superman, Flash, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, even Aquaman – pretty much everyone from the TV series.
Facing a danger so great that it unites them, the script has the Justice League battle it out with… no, not themselves from another dimension, but Maxwell Lord and his army of OMACs. You get the picture.
The story is exciting – though, I have to admit that I’m not a big fan of the villains in this one. THey could’ve done better; I mean, you have an endless list to choose from!! But I really like the fact that they make Flash the most relevant character, and not just take the most obvious route with Batman/Superman.
But again, it’s best if you judge it for yourself.
