Kick-Ass 2
As controversial and potentially offensive as Kick-Ass is, it serves as an awesome superhero flick, providing an entertaining deviation from the traditional Batman, Superman, and Spider-Man stories that have graced the big screen in the past. It did quite well at the box office, so a sequel was pretty certain, but who would’ve thought the sequel would end up having even more controversy than the first?
Kick-Ass 2 has been shrouded in controversy throughout production. Matthew Vaughn opted to skip the rape scene which is present in the graphic novel, so that originally made it seem like there would be less for the studio, and those involved to have to deal with. But then Jim Carrey came out and denounced support of the film, despite the fact he’s in it. That’s a very unorthodox move by an actor, and most took it as quite confusing. Then, to makes things worse, a Universal executive called the film “often offensive.”
Here’s the thing, if you think the film has the potential to offend you, don’t go see it. But if you want to see an ass-kicking good time, then Kick-Ass 2 should be a must-see. Chloe Grace Moretz shows with each role that she’s growing as an actress, and the rest of the cast is filled with entertaining actors who are always enjoyable to watch, including Carrey. The weekend it releases is packed with good films, but Kick-Ass 2 should definitely be one that you check out.
