Avengers: Forever
Alternatively, maybe Marvel Studios have simply run out of titles and they’re going to start ransacking old Batman movies for ideas. Could Avengers 4 be called Avengers Forever? Avengers Begins? Avengers & Robin?
We kid, of course. Avengers: Forever might not be a “scary” title, but it is another that fits in with the ethos that this movie will be both an ending and a new beginning for the MCU. It also evokes the catchphrase that’s recently become so popular thanks to Black Panther: “Wakanda forever!” What’s more, it alludes to it being the fourth Avengers film. How could Kevin Feige resist this gift of a title?
Story-wise, this one also works well. Avengers: Forever was a late 1990s event which involved the Avengers’ pal Rick Jones using something called “The Destiny Force” to pull different Avengers from various time periods together in order to unite them in the present. As we’ve already pointed out, Avengers 4 almost certainly involves time travel. In particular, set photos appear to show a contemporary Tony interacting with Steve Rogers circa The Avengers. Clearly, both the movie and the comic book storyline share a common thread.
The only hitch is that it doesn’t fit in with that pesky Russo comment about the title being “scary.” Unless they mean that Avengers: Forever could give us flashbacks to 1995’s campy Batman Forever?
