7 Actors Who Should Play Green Lantern

The words 'Green Lantern' can strike fear into the hearts of those who sat through the travesty that starred Ryan Reynolds just a few short years ago. However, for those of us who have read the comics or even watched the Justice League cartoons as a kid, Green Lantern is one of DC's most exciting and iconic characters. Fortunately, when DC finally decided to compete with Marvel's cinematic universe late last year, their upcoming slate of movies included a brand new Green Lantern film.

If Warner Bros. decide against using Hal Jordan in the lead role, fan favorite Guy Gardner would be an interesting choice, taking the Green Lantern reboot in a whole new direction. Despite first appearing in 1968, Gardner was mostly sidelined up until the late 1980’s, where the character was transformed into an ultra-macho douchebag who began to play a prominent role in the Justice League.

To stay true to Gardner’s character without making him too annoying slash stop audiences from slitting their wrists every time he speaks, Warner Bros. need an actor who has the charisma and comic timing to pull this role off. Fortunately, Alan Tudyk possesses both of these in spades.

In the sitcom Suburgatory, Tudyk proved that he could turn an unlikable character like Noah Werner into a fan favorite, stealing every scene he was in. Tudyk also has heaps of geek credit following his role as Wash on Joss Whedon’s Firefly and the big screen follow up Serenity, which propelled him to cult status alongside the aforementioned Nathan Fillion. Fans would go crazy to see the pair of them together onscreen once more, although Warner Bros. may be keen to choose a more established actor for the role.
